Alexandra Hospital
An island community hospital serving the special needs of the Nevis community through partnerships with specialists in other countries in such areas as dermatology, eye care, and diabetes screening and education. Learn More
Nevis International Secondary School
A government/private partnership to provide alternative private secondary education to enable its diverse student population to excel in small classes with individualized instruction and support. Students are encouraged to pursue special projects and particular artistic, vocational, and athletic interests, as well as educational support to address reading, math, and English language needs. Invasive Species
An Island effort by the Nevis Agricultural Department and other departments and organizations to limit the species that affect sustainable agriculture and fishing on Nevis. Learn More
Other Activities Have Included:
- Heritage Day at Mountravers, initiated by Board members along with the Nevis Historical and Conservation Society, celebrated local food, music, and crafts at a restored ruin; to highlight Nevisian architectural heritage; and to demonstrate how well-maintained historical sites make an attractive location for cultural events.
- Reusable drink cups provided by Friends of Islands Initiatives, Inc. were made from recycled plastic to encourage less plastic waste during public events.
- Youth Beach Games with the Nevis Department of Youth and Swim to Win, co-sponsored by Friends of Islands Initiatives, Inc., included swimming, beach clean-up, and crafts to develop environmental awareness.
