Alexandra Hospital

With a year-round population of around 11,000 residents, Nevis struggles to provide its citizens with basic medical services. Often, residents must seek out costly off-island treatments that they cannot afford. For example, mammography is performed on Nevis, and twice yearly a team of ophthalmologists provides eye examinations, but until recently, patients had to go off-island to receive their necessary chemotherapy and laser eye surgery.

Patients benefit greatly from receiving treatment locally at the Alexandra Hospital. Friends of Islands Initiatives, Inc. focuses on purchasing medical equipment that will allow the hospital to treat Nevisian residents and visitors alike on-island.
