Each year, our supporting donors make it possible to continue our charitable work on Nevis. Without their support, many of the important projects to improve the lives of Islanders would not go forward. We are grateful for their generous donations of $100 or more toward island projects each year. These yearly donations enable Friends of Islands Initiatives, Inc. to seek grants and to offset larger donations in order to maintain our charitable status.

Thanks to our generous donors, we now have the funds in place for two important purchases that are being developed:
- A medical grade refrigerator with temperature controls for vaccines and other medications.
- An automated external defibrillator (AED) for the Medical Awareness Committee, a community effort to secure AEDs to be placed at critical sites in Nevis.
Our future goals included meaningful grants to Alexandra Hospital for an operating theater bed or an autoclave machine, as well as other entities that support the health and education of Nevisian citizens.

In 2022, Friends of Islands Initiatives, Inc. supported the Alexandra Hospital with:
- Accessories for hospital carts that now use tablets for digitizing patient records
- Patient transfer stretchers
Also, In addition to 15 adult and 10 child life preservers, VHS radio, and a waterproof first aid kit for the Nevis Aquatic and Sailing Center, we donated goggles, swim caps, and rash guards to the Swim to Win program that helps teach Nevisians the valuable skill of swimming safely and is now part of primary school curriculum.

In 2021, Friends of Islands Initiatives, Inc. was able to purchase an Anesthesia Vaporizer for the Alexandra Hospital thanks to our supporters generous donations.
In addition, we sponsored the Nevis Department of Youth’s Youth Beach Games, with such activities as swimming, beach clean-up, and crafts to develop environmental awareness, and also donated 100 goggles to the Swim to Win program.

Your 2019 donations, including a grant from Dorothea Leonhardt Fund at Communities Foundation of Texas at the recommendation of Andrea Harkins, supported:
- A second patient bedside vital signs monitor to enable nursing staff with the essential information in caring for critically ill patients. The Alexandra Hospital has since added two more vital signs monitors with a goal of providing every patient with a vital signs monitor. The Alexandra Hospital has begun the process of providing digital support for the nursing staff. Well done on everyone’s part.
- A fetal antepartum monitor with cart to provide medical staff with the latest technology in caring for pregnant mothers.
- A portable oxygen concentrator to facilitate proactively the commercial airline travel of patients in need of specialized care at a larger hospitals, before their health deteriorates to the point of requiring an air ambulance.
